How to do your own daisy nail art – a tutorial from Betina Goldstein
Various lockdowns and restrictions meant we were deprived of nail salons for a considerable amount of time.
As a result, lots of people got pretty nifty at doing their own nails at home.
And now socialising is back on, we’re seeing individuals going all out with their nail art designs.
Currently there are a number of huge nail trends that are all over Instagram – we’ve seen waves, abstract prints and colourful twists on traditional manicures.
But perhaps one of the biggest trends of summer 2021 is daisy nails.
If you want to recreate the daisy design at home, nail artist Betina Goldstein has created a brilliant video tutorial.
Firstly, she can be seen prepping the nail with a bottom layer of clear nail varnish.
Then she uses an orange shade as the dot for the middle of the daisies, using a tiny nail art brush, before going in with thin white petals around it.
Betina tells Metro.co.uk: ‘When making the petals for the daisies, think of them as marquis shapes.
‘To add more dimension to your flower, start with an off white and then add texture with a pure bright white.’
She stresses that the same can be done with the orange/yellow paint – to give it a more 3D effect.
Betina adds: ‘Don’t worry about them being perfect, each flower is unique.’
She also keeps the art to the top of the finger, rather than doing them all over the nail.
But remember, you can always experiment with positions and placements, if you fancy something a little different.
Betina’s artistic talents and steady hand has attracted an Instagram fan base of more than 352,000 followers and her account features a plethora of other adorable summer looks to try, from hand painted prawns and sharks to a strawberry picnic design.
Earlier this year she also brought out a handy tool that helps make nail art application easier.
Taking inspiration from an artist’s palette, Betina made a gold ring that has a flat surface and dips for paint – which means you can apply away to your heart’s content.
