IF you've ever wondered if there's a quicker or easier way to get a kitchen job done, chances are there is, and we're about to tell you how.
Whether it be prepping food for the family or cleaning the dishes once you're done, here are some hacks you'll certainly wish you'd known sooner.
Wash dishes… the right way
If you've never given much thought to the order in which you wash your dishes, well, sorry to break it to you but that's your first mistake.
You might find yourself having to drain the cold and dirty water before you get to finish, but there is a way to avoid this altogether.
The result? You'll get the job done in half the time and your crockery will end up sparkling – plus you won't have to rewash anything that wasn't done properly.
Good Housekeeping previously revealed that you must start with glasses and finish with your baking trays.

“Follow this order to keep your water and your dishes as clean as possible during the washing process: in hot, soapy water, begin by washing glasses, then lightly soiled dishes such as mugs, saucers and side plates," it reported.
“Next wash the large eating plates, followed by the cutlery. Do serving dishes, pans and roasting tins last.“
What's more, marigolds (washing up gloves) are an absolute must as you’re able to have the water at much higher temperatures, meaning you’re more likely to dissolve stubborn grease and grime.
Finally, if you're struggling with stubborn grease on your pots and pans, then salt and baking powder are your best friends.

A savvy cleaning and cooking fanatic shared the method online and demonstrated sprinkling some salt before topping it off with a generous dusting of baking powder.
Next, she poured over a bit of dishwashing liquid and covered it all with a few tissues – before adding some white vinegar.
after letting it sit for a little while, she removed the tissue to reveal almost brand new looking pans – so, it seems, the method works a treat.
Save time prepping food
Most of us are stuck in our ways when it comes to how we cook and prepare food.
But there are often new and better ways to get the task done, and often in half the time.
If poached eggs are your go-to brunch offering then listen up, because there's a genius way that'll guarantee perfect eggs every time.
Instead of using fancy tools (poaching pan, we're looking at you) this clever hack – shared on TikTok by three wannabe chef friends, Caught Snackin – requires just a ladle and a pot of boiling water.
Simply break the egg directly into the ladle, and place the base of the spoon on top of the boiling water until the egg white goes opaque.
But if making mashed potato makes your blood boil, there's a far simpler way.
And the best part is you don't have to peel them to start with.
Cooking and lifestyle expert Lora McLaughlin Peterson posted a step-by-step guide on TikTok leaving people seriously impressed.
After boiling them as you normally would, grab a bowl and put a baking rack on top of it.
“Cut your potato in half, lay it on the rack, and smash," she instructed.
“The rack mashes the potato while leaving the skin behind.”
Finally, if you dread having to wash and dry mushrooms before cooking them up, the good news is that you don't have to.
According to a kitchen-savvy woman, mushrooms have a layer you can peel off, which means you don’t need to rinse them beforehand.
“Simply turn them over, snap off the stem, peel them,” a woman shared in a viral video.
However, she advised that if you want to use the peels for cooking, you should definitely wash them.
We bet we're not the only ones who put off scrubbing the oven – not to mention the limescale-covered kettle and food-stain microwave too.
But there's an easier way to get all three spotless in minutes, making tackling the job easier.
The secret to getting your oven spotless with ease is actually removing the door.
While most people probably didn't know this, Tiktoker Asianmuminlaw shared how to do this safely and easily.
He showed how his mother in law pulled the metal attachments on the oven that hold the door on a hinge.
After taking off the door, he went in with a towel to clean the ledge that is normally so hard to reach – leaving every crevasse spotless.
When it comes to your kettle, it's time to ditch the cleaning products altogether (yes, seriously).
The secret weapon, it seems, is lemon juice which will have your microwave. squeaky clean.
Laura Simpson took to the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas group on Facebook to reveal she'd used lemon juice to get restore her kettle to its former glory, after reading the hack online.
"Someone put on here to descale your kettle with just plain on bottled lemon juice!" she wrote.
"Best thing I've ever done! Will switch to this method from now on."
And given that bottled lemon juice costs around 60p, the hack is a clever and cheap way of descaling appliances.
