Garbage Announce First New Album In Five Years, Drop Lead Single
Garbage have announced that their long-awaited seventh album, No Gods No Masters, will be released on June 11 via Stunvolume/Infectious Music.
The band also shared the lead single from the album, “The Men Who Rule The World.”
The song is described as “a critique of the rise of capitalist short-sightedness, racism, sexism and misogyny across the world.”
The album, co-produced by Garbage and Billy Bush, marks their first LP since 2016’s Strange Little Birds.
“This is our seventh record, the significant numerology of which affected the DNA of its content: the seven virtues, the seven sorrows, and the seven deadly sins,” said Shirley Manson.
The lead singer of the alternative rock band added, “It was our way of trying to make sense of how f—ing nuts the world is and the astounding chaos we find ourselves in. It’s the record we felt that we had to make at this time.”
Garbage’s planned tour with Alanis Morissette and Liz Phair, which was scheduled to be held in 2020, was cancelled due to COVID-19.
