Harvey Weinstein ‘Nervous’ to Be Transferred to Rikers Island Jail

The disgraced Hollywood movie mogul is reportedly going to be transferred to the New York notorious prison when he’s released from hospital following heart surgery.

AceShowbizHarvey Weinstein is to await sentencing for sex crimes behind bars at New York’s notorious Rikers Island prison following heart surgery.

The disgraced movie mogul checked in to Bellevue Hospital in the Big Apple hours after he was convicted of rape and a criminal sexual act last month, February 2020, complaining of heart palpitations.

He underwent an operation to put a stent in his heart on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 and is now awaiting a transfer to Rikers Island, according to the New York Post.

“He’s nervous but he isn’t in control and has to deal with it,” a source told the newspaper.

Earlier this week, one of Weinstein’s attorneys, Arthur Aidala, told Variety it was “likely” his client would remain under care at the Manhattan hospital until his sentencing next week.

“The treating doctors think that’s where he should be – it’s that simple,” he said. “It’s no secret he was under several doctors’ care over the course of the last couple of months. The doctors at Bellevue, up until today, at least, have determined that he’s not ready to go to a non-medical facility. It’s totally up to the medical team to make that determination. Obviously, nobody wants anything to happen to Mr. Weinstein because of his health.”
