Jennifer Lopez Wore the Shoes We All Forgot Existed
Jennifer Lopez and her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, aren't doing anything to quell the rumors that they could be buying the New York Mets. The two were spotted at Citi Field in Queens today in what TMZ is calling a VIP tour (though when J.Lo does anything, it's pretty VIP). Baseball and business acquisitions aside, however, Lopez's footwear also managed to garner some raised eyebrows, because after months of lockdown and pajama couture in our homes, we almost forgot that stilettos existed — until Lopez trotted a pair out, of course.
For her visit to Citi Field, Lopez wore a mask (thank you very much), a flowing white long-sleeved mini dress, and barely there, nude-colored strappy stilettos. While it's been a while since sky-high heels and super-sexy shoes have gotten any love (thanks to lockdowns and a turn towards chunkier heels and more grounded shapes), it's a total Jennifer Lopez move to up the glam factor no matter where she's going. She finished off the ensemble with a Valentino logo crossbody bag, hoop earrings, and a pair of oversized shades.
Lopez and Rodriguez are putting together an ownership group that's aiming to buy the Mets. They've gathered Mike Repole, the co-founder of BodyArmor and Vitaminwater, as well as NFL stars DeMarco Murray, Brian Urlacher, Joe Thomas, and Travis Kelce. The Washington Wizards' Bradley Beal and Denver Nuggets' Mason Plumlee are also on board.
Lopez and Rodriguez had previously put in a bid for the team, proposing a $1.5 billion price tag, but the Mets' owners, the Wilpon family, hoped for something closer to $2.5 billion. The New York Post reports that hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen offered $2 billion, but noted that the Wilpons would rather sell to Lopez and Co. Clearly, the family is holding out, whether its to give everyone a chance to pool more cash together or to start a bidding war is still to be seen.
