Breguet Updates XXI Pilot's Chronograph With Titanium Limited Editions

Breguet has dropped two new limited edition titanium versions of its historic naval aviation-inspired Type XXI chronograph.

The two versions, both limited to 250 pieces, are differentiated through the use of green and orange luminous material on numerals, markers and hands.

These new 42mm Type XXI 3815 chronographs serve as a “contemporary counterpart” to the vintage-style Type XXI 3817 introduced in 2016. The watches feature black sunray-polished dials, bidirectional titanium bezels fitted with lacquered 60-minute scales and 100m water resistance.

Breguet’s Type XXI features an unusual chronograph configuration, with both centrally mounted chronograph minutes and seconds hands. The sub dials at the three and nine o’clock positions indicate 24-hours and small seconds respectively.

Breguet’s modern XXI models, as well as its hi-beat 10Hz XXII, take their inspiration from Breguet’s 1960s Type XX, which, in turn, were civilian versions of the Type 20 chronographs produced for the French Navy’s Aéronavale pilots in the 1950s.

The Type XXI 3815 limited editions are available now via Breguet, priced £12,900 GBP ($17,800 USD).
