Council tax rebate update – list of areas where £150 is hitting bank accounts THIS WEEK
COUNCILS have started to pay out £150 tax rebates this week, with thousands of households receiving the cash.
Families across the country are expecting the one-off freebie to land in their accounts within days.
The rebate is being given to help residents cope with the rising cost of living.
In total, around 80% of households are set to get the cash but the date it's paid depends on which local council area you're in.
People who live in council tax bands A to D are eligible for the grant, which doesn't have to be paid back.
Those who pay by direct debit will get the payment first and other residents will have to apply directly to their council.
