Ghost hunters who claimed to have spotted "the twins from The Shining" at Britain's most haunted hotel have now shared a recording of a spirit "swearing" at them.
Lee and Linzi Steer claimed they snapped two creepy child ghosts, similar to the Grady Twins from the 1980 horror classic, after staying at Liverpool's Adelphi Hotel on June 22.
The pair were also left "shocked" when they used a machine to try and communicate with the so-called spirits – and seemed to get a "you b*****d" in response.
Linzi told Liverpool Echo: "We asked if there were any spirits present and didn't really get a response.
"But after I asked what their names were we heard somebody say you b****** to us.
"We've never heard anyone say anything like this to us before, most of the time they tell us or don't speak at all."
In the video of the incident, shown above, a muffled voice does appear to say a two-syllable word, although it is not clear exactly what that is.
And it was just one in a number of chilling experiences they had on the night of June 22.
In a stream on their Ghosts of Britain Facebook page, Lee said: "One of the first things that was weird was the lift. We were filming by the lift and it just opened for no reason with nobody inside.
"We had heard the lifts do what they like from some other people that had stayed, but to see it in person was weird.
It turned out those coincidences were not the spookiest things that happened during their trip, with n eagle-eyed viewer spotting something in the background of the footage.
Two blurred figures shapes to be at the end of the corridor and the resemblance to the creepy twins in the Stanley Kubrick horror movie – adapted from the Stephen King novel – was suggested by viewers.
Linzi said: "To me, it looks like two children and I feel like one of them is a girl.
"It reminded me of the twins out of The Shining."
Linzi also noted more peculiarities during their stay, although it's likely there is a mundane explanation.
She said: "In our room itself there was a little entry area and then the door into the room and the bathroom.
"Lee said he closed the door when he came in but on three occasions the door ended up being wide open.
"The main bedroom was also really cold but then the bathroom would be really warm, the temperature would also change by about 10 degrees really suddenly even though we didn't have any windows open."
