Scotland 28-17 France rugby LIVE RESULT: Haouas gets red card for PUNCHING Jamie Ritchie as England go top – The Sun
SCOTLAND kept themselves mathematically in the Six Nations hunt thanks to an inexplicable red card from France's Mohamed Haouas.
The prop landed a punch on Jamie Ritchie as the French went down to a 28-17 defeat to leave their title hopes out of their hands.
UNTIL NEXT TIME
OK that'll be it from us on SunSport.
Thanks for tuning in and see you next week from Cardiff and Paris.
So here are next weekend's games, as it stands.
2.15pm – Wales vs Scotland
8pm – France vs Ireland
England's game against Italy is OFF.
Jamie Ritchie was brilliant today.
The flanker is man of the match, despite being clocked in the face with Haouas' fist.
His stats aren't even that outstanding, but he was in the thick of everything good Scotland did transitioning defence to attack.
And he was one of the players who physically really raised his game.
BONUS POINT FOR THE TAKING
Townsend adds: “I thought we could have done one or two more [tries].
“The weather didn't help and they changed their tactics a little bit.
“I actually didn't see the punch so if you tell me it was a clear red card, you're telling me.
“One of our players was surrounded by three or four Frenchman and the code of rugby is you protect your team-mates.
“It went from a bit of pushing and shoving to something a bit more than that which is something you don't want to see on the rugby field.”
NIGHT ON THE TOWN
Scotland boss Gregor Townsend says: “We could have done better in the last 10-15 minutes, but I'm very pleased with how we started the game.
“We were very physical in the tackle and we looked sharp moving the ball.
“Things changed at the end of the first half against 14 men.”
