Twitter loves Simeone's X-rated celebration after Atletico's first goal against Juventus

TWITTER has fallen in love with Diego Simeone after his X-rated celebration in Atletico Madrid's win over Juventus tonight.

The Argentine boss reacted to Jose Maria Gimenez's opener by turning to the stands and grabbing his crotch in a bizarre move.

After getting a good handful, Simeone give it all a shake for good measure – clearly thrilled by his side taking the lead in the Spanish capital.

It's not the first time Simeone has performed the celebration either, having done it 20 years ago while playing for Lazio against Bologna.

Asked about it, Simeone explained: "I did it as a player in Lazio-Bologna and I did it again to show our fans that we have cojones. It wasn’t aimed at the other team, I was turning towards our own supporters.

"It’s not a nice gesture, I admit, but I felt the need to do it.

Diego Simeone showed off the celebration after Atletico went 1-0 up

"It was such a tough game, we fought so hard and Diego Costa worked really hard when he wasn’t 100 per cent fit. I had to show what I was feeling.

"I can only apologise if anyone was offended, but I did it from the heart."

And Simeone had more cause for celebration too, after Diego Godin scored his side's second five minutes later via a deflection off Cristiano Ronaldo to put his side in the ascendancy.

It could have been 3-0 too, only for Alvaro Morata to have his goal ruled out by VAR earlier in the match for a shove on Giorgio Chiellini.

There was one minor setback on the night though, as Diego Costa ruled himself out of the second leg through suspension after losing the plot in the first half, sneaking in front of the white line at a free-kick.

Despite the massive win, Twitter could only focus on one thing… here's the best of the reaction.
