As Lily Allen leaves the UK for US with her new husband we say Yanks for nothing

SHE found fame declaring “Why, oh why, would I wanna be anywhere else” about London – a sentiment I totally agree with.

But flop singer Lily Allen has very much changed her tune — and will be ditching the UK for good.

Sadly, Covid rules mean there won’t be a party — although I think fewer than six people probably bought her most recent album so perhaps they could form a farewell bubble. I’ll give it a miss.

I’m told Lily is moving to New York to live with her new husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

Few in British music circles will be too disappointed after years of her grumbling and preaching — alongside some pretty ropey musical efforts which have seen her pushed aside by label chiefs.

The couple married three weeks ago in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator and followed by a low-key celebration at a burger joint. But they’ve been apart ever since, with Lily quarantining alone at her London pad for a fortnight after returning from the US.

You could be forgiven for thinking she’d been isolating for rather longer after failing to strike a top ten single since 2014, but there we are. It marks a sad end to one of the most colourful characters in pop culture, who burst on to the scene with brilliant originality and attitude and a string of hits including Smile and Not Fair.

But she quickly became more interested in showing off her woke credentials and complaining about the music business — though she did have the decency to once admit many of her recent singles have been “rubbish”.

Relocating Stateside could also put her at odds with ex-husband Sam Cooper, with whom she has daughters Ethel, eight, and Marnie, seven. After finalising her divorce in 2018, Lily revealed they share custody on a week-on, week-off basis, which will be pretty tricky once they’re on different continents.

And it’s not like Lily can afford to jet the kids back and forth weekly.
She resorted to flogging personal messages for £159.99 on app Cameo to fund her new album.

She was dropped from label Parlophone last year following poor sales of her most recent record No Shame — and her last major hit came courtesy of the John Lewis ad in 2013 with a cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know.

Lily has also revealed that Sam isn’t a fan of Ethel and Marnie having to follow her around the globe. She told Cosmopolitan mag in 2018: “I assumed I’d chuck my kids over my shoulder and take them around the world. But Sam didn’t want that.”

A source said: “There’s a lot to sort out, not least how she will co-parent. In the end one of them is going to miss out.”

It all sounds very stressful, but the good news for Lily is her sole Brit award will fit nicely in her hand baggage.

Gwen sure is specsy

THERE was no missing Gwen Stefani as she shot her latest collection of eyewear for her lifestyle brand Lamb.

The Hollaback Girl singer posed in this white top and gold necklaces adorned with the word “Shelton” – the name of her country star boyfriend Blake Shelton – matched with Daisy Duke hot pants and fishnet stockings.

Gwen and Blake met as judges on the set of The Voice USA in 2014 and began dating the following year.

And they’ve been mixing business with pleasure – as they are up for the CMT Music Award For Collaborative Video Of The Year for their hit Nobody But You.

It’s Gwen’s first nomination for the award, but she’s got no time to rest on her laurels – the pair are due back on The Voice next month.

Syco sale hurts Meg's pop career

WHEN Simon Cowell offloaded the last of his label Syco to Sony Music this summer it marked the end of an era for pop after decades of success.

It also marked the end for many of his acts, who are now without a deal.
Among the major casualties is Megan McKenna, whose impressive vocal talents won The X Factor: Celebrity just a year ago.

The reality TV star is now in talks with several other music outfits in the hope of realising her dream of pop stardom.

There might be less hope for some of the rest of Syco’s roster, mind, who I’m told have proved highly disposable to Sony.

But looking down the list of names it’s hardly surprising – I’d never heard of most of them.

IL VOLO or CNCO anyone? They’re hardly Robson and Jerome . . .

Jack: My lost Gem

ROXY Horner look away now – this may make you a little uneasy.

The model’s boyfriend Jack Whitehall has told of his regret over not marrying his ex-girlfriend, actress Gemma Chan.

In a new episode of Netflix show Travels With My Father, he and his mum Hilary discuss how she had hoped he would be the first of her three children to wed.

Jack, the eldest of the trio, said: “I f***ed up my chance of that. I did. I could have got married but I messed it up.” In the show – filmed before he began dating Roxy – he and his mum talk about his sister Molly’s wedding.

Jack went on: “I’m sorry I’ll be attending the wedding alone and I’m sorry you have two children who have model relationships and one who is going to be there on his own maybe trying to shag a bridesmaid.”

The latest series shows Jack and his dad Michael touring Australia and was filmed alongside the comic’s stand-up tour in Oz in February, He and Roxy began dating soon after. The pair spent isolation living together in Jack’s home in Notting Hill, North London, and are still going strong.

Jack’s exes include actor Kate Beckinsale, TV’s Kirsty Gallacher and Portuguese model Alexandra Schutz.

In the new show, Hilary tells Jack he has been looking for partners in the “wrong pool”.

He replies: “Maybe I should get out of that pool and find a different swimming pool altogether.”

Looks like that worked out well.

Jesy's Call Of Duty

IF this pic of Jesy Nelson doesn’t get her boyfriend’s attention then nothing will.

The Little Mix singer, who looked stunning in this sexy black nightdress, complained her partner, Our Girl actor Sean Sagar, was distracted by playing Call Of Duty.

She posted a pic of him with a headset on, saying: “This is how we spend Sundays. I need attention.” She later posted a snap with girl friends, but with the faces of The Inbetweeners.

It came after fans accused Jesy and band- mates Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards of flirting with wannabes on their new BBC1 show The Search. After seeing this snap, Sean, if you’re ignoring Jesy, then you’re a bus w****r.

Nort-on best of terms

DESPITE his celebrity-loving gushing persona on his chat show, Graham Norton hates a lot of his guests.

The presenter, who has chatted to almost every A-lister from Tom Cruise to Will Smith, said: “There are people on the show that you don’t like, that’s inevitable, but that doesn’t mean they are a bad guest. Often people I don’t like, they’re rather good guests.

“The people who work on the show dislike a lot more guests than I do. When they get on the sofa they’re nicer.”

In a virtual chat to promote new book Home Stretch, Graham added: “Performers – actors, singers, models – don’t want to drop that facade in front of an audience. They want that audience to like them.”

Name names, Graham.
