Coronation Street fans were left in tears on Wednesday's episode after Emma Brooker declared her love for Curtis Delamere after discovering his "life-threatening" heart condition.

Earlier this week, Curtis (Sam Retford) was forced to tell Emma's dad Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) that he could "drop dead" at any second after he accused him of cheating on his daughter (Alexandra Mardell).

After ending things with Emma as he would rather her "hate him" than "grieve him", Curtis decided to tell her the truth but she told him they were "done" as he should have been honest from the start.

Curtis then went to leave Weatherfield in a taxi where he told Steve what had happened and admitted he wished he had "more time" with her as she "lights up" the room.

Playing Cupid, Steve pretended to call a taxi for Curtis and he ran to find his daughter Emma to encourage her to give him a second chance as they are "good together".

And after realising he had already left in a taxi and his phone was going to voicemail, Steve managed to get Curtis' taxi signal on his own cab's walkie-talkie where Emma declared her love.

She sweetly said: "Hello, this is for Curtis. If you can hear me, it's Emma. I am so sorry about before, I'm not that brilliant at thinking on my feet. I'm like a good cup of tea, you've got to let me stew for a bit. Let the bag brew, not that I'm a bag, I'm getting mixed up here.

"What I'm saying, is, I need to think about stuff and I need to let it settle before I say what I feel, but when I do, when I let the tea brew and my thoughts get all lined up, I can say what I mean, what I really mean, it will be the honest truth.

"So… my honest truth is… don't go, please. I know you didn't trick me or lie. I can't even imagine how hard it is to talk about your stuff, I know that ending it with me was to protect me. I get it now. You didn't want to hurt me, that's really sweet, but it's too late.

"I love you, I already love you, you make me happy. That's it really, over" as she ended the walkie-talkie call.

And later on the soap, Curtis surprised Emma at the Rovers Return Inn where he had bought her a tea infuser, so they can both get better at timing.

Emma sweetly said that she can "handle" his "life-threatening" heart condition and that it is "worth it" so they can pursue their romance.

Soap watchers were left in tears over the scenes as they took to Twitter to gush over the "sweetest" episode ever.

One person said: "#Corrie this is such the sweetest episode ever with Emma and Curtis."

A different fan put: "Emma that was such a sweet speech to Curtis #Corrie," followed by crying emojis.
