Ed Sheeran 'apologises to ginger people' after ditching roots to go blonde for three days in new music video

ED Sheeran has "apologises to ginger people" after ditching roots to go blonde for his new music video.

The popstar, 30, revealed that he dyed his hair to get into character for his new single Bad Habit.

The Shape of You singer shared a snap of him with his Dracula-esque eye shadow, bleached hair and a gaudy pink suit.

The Grammy Award winner completed his ghoulish look with a black nail polish and a pair of vampire fangs.

Ed promised his fans that he would never bleach his hair again and apologised to his fans.

Alongside the snap, he wrote: "6 days to go. My hair was blonde for 3 days for the shoot. I apologise to all my ginger people, it will never happen again. #factor70sunscreengang"

The Thinking Out Loud star left fans divided over his new barnet, with one writing: "Thank god blonde Ed isn’t permanent 😂."

Another shared: "If you were blonde for more than a week, I’d never forgive you."

A third added: "Prefer you ginger. NEVER DO THIS AGAIN HAHAAHHAH."

The track is due for release on 25 June, but Ed has shared a teaser for his upcoming fifth album.

He treated fans to a snippet of his new track on TikTok, allowing followers use it for their own video creations.

The singer is gearing up to release his new record later this month – he'll be performing the track live for the very first time at the TikTok UEFA Euro 2020 show, alongside a number of his classic hits.

In the short clip, Ed is seen along a host of ghoul and zombie pals and back-up dancers all showing off their frightening look.

The song played for a couple of seconds, revealing the following lyrics: "My bad habits lead to late nights sleeping alone, conversations with a stranger I barely know."

Ed’s fans had long anticipated a return to the limelight would come later this year, after he teased a single standalone track this Christmas, with lyrics dedicated to his daughter.

His prolific run in the charts has made him a seemingly permanent fixture in the music industry since his breakthrough album ‘+’ back in 2011, with mammoth tours, TV and radio appearances alongside a raft of major awards.

But in recent years, after falling in love with his now wife Cherry Seaborn, he has made efforts to take extended breaks in between projects. These have involved removing himself from social media and travelling away from the showbiz limelight to enjoy family time.

Announcing his last break in December 2019, he told fans he needed to “live a little more” before writing fresh tunes.

In a statement online, he said: “Hello all. Gonna go on another break again.

“The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world.

“I’ve been a bit non-stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. I’ll be off all social media until it’s time to come back.

To all my family and friends, see ya when I see ya – and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing, I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.”

This is his fifth full-length studio record — after previously selling in excess of 26 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide.

His groundbreaking success, includes the most lucrative tour of all time, with overall sales estimated at around £560million.

Singles including Shape Of You, Perfect, Castle On The Hill and Thinking Out Loud have propelled him to household name and superstar status.

Ed has also penned huge hits for a host of other A-listers including Justin Bieber, One Direction and Westlife.
