Line of Duty fans go wild for new Vicky McClure police pics – but all is not as it seems

VICKY McClure is back in her police uniform, much to the delight of fans – but all is not as it seems.

While it may appear she's returned to the set of Line of Duty, the DI Kate Fleming actress has turned her attentions to a new police thriller.

Looking almost identical to her former BBC One character, Vicky, 38, is set to play bomb disposal expert Lana Washington in ITV show Trigger Point.

Once again donning her policing gear, fans will be delighted to see her transformation into the front line officer for the upcoming series.

In a first look at Trigger Point, which is currently in production, Vicky can be seen striking a number of signature poses made by her BBC counterpart.

Also written by critically-acclaimed screenwriter Jed Mercurio, the new drama sees Vicky come together alongside actor Adrian Lester.

Taking to social media, Vicky shared the behind-the-scenes photographs of herself and Adrian in character for the "explosive" drama.

One snap sees Vicky looking near-identical to BBC One character DI Fleming as she dons black riot police gear, fit with dark goggles.

The only difference is that instead of "police" written across her bullet-proof vest, her new role has her titled as an "explosives officer".

Another sneak-peek shows Vicky crawling beneath a car to look for bombs, another sees her stood side-by-side with Adrian's character Joel Nutkins.

"Meet Lana Washington & Joel Nutkins! We’re off to an explosive start! Can’t wait to reveal more as we go along," actress Vicky wrote fans.

Many replied with delight at seeing her back in police gear, sharing their excitement for the release of the series late this year or early in 2021.

"Vicky this looks incredible – I am so excited for this," one woman wrote, while a second chimed in: "Exciting! Obviously undercover for AC12."

Making further references to her former role, a third concurred: "Once a copper always a copper. How exciting."

Even Line of Duty star Martin Compston shared his delight at seeing Vicky in the snaps, writing: "Yes mate, looking fierce."

Trigger Point will focus on the counter terrorism police and the work of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad in the fictional drama.

It will follow the bomb disposal operatives as they make urgent efforts to end a terrorist campaign threatening the capital over the summer.

Both ex-military, characters Lana and Joel served together in Afghanistan and work as a team over six episodes to avoid disaster.

No release date has been given for the drama, but fans are hoping to be able to view it on ITV by the end of this year or in early 2021.

ITV's head of drama, Polly Hill, said of the exciting new venture: "Trigger Point has you on the edge of your seat from the start.

"I'm delighted to be working with Jed who knows better than anyone how to bring these thrillers to screen and Vicky is the perfect Lana."
