The conclusion of season three’s devastating finale once again promised a new status quo to Marty Byrde’s (played by Jason Bateman) money laundering operation.
The final moments of episode 10, All In, saw the Navarro family’s lawyer, Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer), killed by their own hitman.
Then, Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) promised a ‘new beginning’ for their criminal partnership, solidifying the allegiance between himself, Marty and his wife Wendy (Laura Linney).
Several threads were also left hanging, as Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) abandoned her job with the Byrdes to strike up a new alliance with Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) and Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan).

As the stakes were raised in the series’ latest instalment, Ozark fans are eager to see the series make its return, even if it means potentially waiting another two years.
A recent interview from series creator Chris Mundy may have confirmed chances for season four are high, as he talked through the Byrde family’s latest decisions and major mistakes.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Chris said: “If we’re lucky enough to get a season 4, I think it will be about whether or not Ruth really can create something of her own that she wants and is sustainable, or if she wants something else.”
Since her introduction in season one, Julia Garner has made a strong impression as one of the series’ biggest breakthroughs, and has since gone on to further roles in acclaimed projects such as Amazon’s Modern Love and drama film The Assistant.
With Ruth set to break away from the Byrdes, fans are eager to see how the young actress will rise to the new challenges Julia’s character may face in season four.
Chris added: “And I think it will be about if the Byrdes can turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage, and how much will karma catch up with them if they do?”
Each season of Ozark has been a propulsive thriller as Marty and Wendy’s money laundering has snowballed into increasingly dangerous territory.
With a potential fourth season opening with a new partnership with the series’ most powerful and dangerous criminal networks, the Byrdes will once again have to reconcile with the consequences of their reckless actions.

Additionally, the heated row between Wendy and Ruth regarding the blame for Ben and Cade’s deaths has been praised as one of the most moving scenes throughout the entirety of the series.
Chris Mundy also touched on how the two actresses’ performances set the stage for not only the heart-stopping finale, but also what’s to come in season four.
He said: “It’s one of those times where Julia and Laura just made it better than I ever could have imagined.
“They’re both just so good, and it’s just so raw for both of them, so I’m really glad it plays.”
The creator then hinted at more interplay between Julia Garner and Laura Linney to come as their rivalry heats up in season four.

Ozark explained: What was really going on between Ruth and Cade?
Chris added: “I think the interesting thing about those two really going at it is that in a way, they’re mirrors of each other.
“They’re both at their core very similar people and recognise that in each other, so letting [them] go at it…was really super-fun.”
Netflix’s popular drama’s third outing attracted Ozark’s best reviews yet, though the platform is also infamous for cutting series short after just three seasons.
Thankfully, Ozark’s showrunner is optimistic for a fourth season once the coronavirus lockdown has lifted and the stellar cast can return to their regular filming duties.
Ozark season 3 is available on Netflix.
