Netflix’s hit crime series Ozark will soon be returning to screens for its highly-anticipated fourth and final season. After a shocking season finale fans are convinced Jonah Byrde (played by Skylar Gaertner) could join forces with Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) to take down his family.
Season three saw Jonah reach the end of his tether with his parents, after discovering the truth about his uncle’s death.
Throughout the series, the youngster had essentially been ignored by his father Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) who was focused on repaying the Mexican drug cartel with his wife Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney).
This was until season three when her brother Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey) moved in with them after being on the run.
Viewers watched as Ben’s arrival meant Jonah was no longer lonely as the two formed a close bond.
However, tragedy struck when Wendy was forced to expose Ben’s location after the cartel’s lawyer, Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) put a price on his head.
During his time at the Ozarks, he fell in love with Ruth who unbeknownst to Ben had been involved with the Bryde’s illegal dealings.
The two wanted to consummate their relationship, however, Ben’s bipolar medication was restricting them from doing so.
Despite Wendy’s warnings, Ruth encouraged Ben to come off his medication, which led to him spiralling out of control.
When Ben discovered his family were laundering drug money for the Mexican cartel he couldn’t keep it to himself, and eventually exposed Helen’s real occupation to her daughter.
Proving to be a risk to the cartel, Helen wanted Ben dead, Wendy tried to go on the run with him but soon realised how bad his mental state had become so she phoned the hitman.
After receiving the news Ben was dead, Jonah went on a rampage, aimlessly shooting the house with a rifle.
It was until he threatened to kill Wendy when she told him his mother was behind his uncle’s death.
Ruth also hated the Byrde’s for refusing to protect her against Frank Cosgrove Jr (Joseph Sikora) who put her in hospital, so she quit and joined forces with their enemy Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery).
Many fans have predicted this to cause a major issue in the upcoming fourth season as Ruth knew all the Byrde’s secrets.
Netflix’s first look images also hint at Jonah and Ruth working together in a potential bid to take down the Byrde family.
In one photo the two seem to be on their way somewhere, despite never appearing to have a friendship throughout the series.
Another photo showed Wendy who looked as though she was pleading with Jonah to come home.
While a third snap showed Ruth approaching Wendy with a rifle as she appeared to be approaching her home.
While it seems likely this could be a possibility fans will have to tune in to see how things will end for the Byrde family.
Ozark season 4 will premiere on Netflix on Friday, January 21.
