Peter Dinklage Taken Aback by Snow White Live-Action Remake: It Makes No Sense to Me

The ‘Game of Thrones’ alum is wondering why Disney is ‘making that f**king backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together’ despite being progressive enough for the racially diverse casting.

AceShowbizPeter Dinklage has been left bewildered by Disney’s new live-action remake of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. When speaking about the forthcoming film, the “Game of Thrones” alum claimed that he’s “taken aback” by the project.

The 52-year-old offered his two cents when speaking to Marc Maron on his “WTF” podcast. “Literally no offence to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. But you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me,” he argued.

“You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f**king backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f**k are you doing, man?” the Primetime Emmy Award winner fumed. “Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soap box? I guess I’m not loud enough.”

“I don’t know which studio that is, but they were so proud of it,” he went on explaining. “All love and respect to the actress and all the people who thought they were doing the right thing. But I’m just like, what are you doing?”

However, Peter noted that he is not totally opposed to the idea of a new version of the 1937 flick. “I think also, if you tell the story of ‘Snow White’ with the most f**ked up, progressive spin on it? Let’s do it. All in,” he said. “But, I just don’t know.”

The “Cyrano” star believed that people are working on the project because they don’t want to “take risks” these days in Hollywood. Host Maron, meanwhile, highlighted the lack of a “community movement”.

Having been cast in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” live-action are “West Side Story” breakout star Rachel Zegler as well as Gal Gadot. Rachel will play Snow White, while the “Wonder Woman” actress will portray the Evil Queen. The project is helmed by “500 Days of Summer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” director Marb Webb.
