Highlands mountain climber Andrew Vine missing for two days after avalanche on Aonach Mor as Storm Jorge batters country

RESCUE teams are desperately searching for a missing mountain climber who has vanished after an avalanche in the Highlands.

And the rescue operation comes as Storm Jorge batters Scotland with yet more extreme weather.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue was mobilised to Aonach Mor close to Fort William on Friday after the incident.

And cops are also appealing for help in finding Andrew Vine.

The 41-year-old was last seen on the West Face of Aonach Mor, Fort William around 1pm on Friday afternoon.

Rescue teams resumed their search this morning as more bad weather is forecast.

Andrew is described as white, 5 11 tall, medium build with ginger/brown hair and beard.

When last seen he was wearing a red jacket, yellow ‘La Sportiva’ boots, black trousers and carrying a yellow rucksack.

It comes after the rescue team were called out again last night to reports of another climber having fallen.
