Migrant tot comforted by Border Forces after making treacherous Channel crossing

A CRYING baby is comforted by a Border Force officer as another wave of desperate migrants arrives in the UK.

The child was one of dozens of people plucked from the Channel at the weekend as traffickers continued to make the perilous journey from France.

The 21 arrivals in Dover, Kent, on Sunday mean at least 5,607 migrants have risked crossing the busiest shipping route in the world this year.

Eyewitness Christian Thrale told KentOnline: "I was sat on the bench and I was walking back from near the golf course.

"I could see a boat coming quite quick towards the beach, I saw about 16 immigrants jump off and walk to shore.

"They left the boat in the water floating but me and a couple off women pulled it on to the shore because we didn't want it floating off.

"They went off towards Underdown Road by the public toilets and walked in the direction of Kingsdown Golf Club when they disappeared.

"I don't know if there was a car waiting there for them."

Another suspected migrant was pictured being pulled down from a roofbox by police officers at a service station.

The black Renault Captur was parked at Maidstone Services off the M20.
