Queens rideshare driver with coronavirus isolated in Far Rockaway hospital
The Queens rideshare driver who tested positive for coronavirus is in stable condition in Far Rockaway hospital, officials there said Saturday.
The patient is in isolation, a spokesperson for St. John Episcopal Hospital told The Post.
“We are closely monitoring him and our team members who may have been exposed to this patient. We’ve been actively preparing for this and we will continue to follow all standard infection controlled guidelines.”
The man is one of 11 people identified with the virus in New York City as of midday Saturday, up from five on Friday.
The man is believed to drive for Uber on Long Island.
Both Uber and Lyft have said they will compensate drivers who are sidelined by COVID-19 for up to 14 days, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A total of 76 infected people have been identified statewide, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday, as he declared a state of emergency in New York.
